banana nut sweet bread

I think the best recipes come from Aunts, Grandmas, Cousins, Mamas, sisters, friends and the sweet neighbor lady over the next-door fence or just down the road. This recipe for Banana Nut Sweet Bread came from my neighbor lady down the road. I made her a fresh peach pie when she moved in and a few weeks later, to thank me, she baked me a loaf of the most delicious banana nut bread I had EV-AH tasted! I told her so too! I was bold enough to ask her for the recipe and she was gracious enough to share it! I always love it when someone is happy to share a wonderful recipe. Why not share the joy with everyone? Today I want to share the joy with you! Yay for you!farmhouse radio

Most of the time when I bake something I love to create a happy baking atmosphere. It just makes baking all the more fun! I put on some delightful music, a cute apron, light a candle and make sure the kitchen is clean and tidy before I begin. I also fill the sink with hot soapy water so I can clean as I go, soaking the bowls and utensils after I use them so my kitchen doesn’t look like a tornado happened when I’m done! Lol! I’m all about getting in a happy mood so for your enjoyment take a listen to some nostalgic tunes from my Farmhouse Radio, click here, then come on back to get the recipe!

The best thing about overripe bananas is getting to make The Neighbor Lady’s Banana Nut Sweet Bread! And every time I make it, I think of that sweet gal who used to live down the road… her beautiful, joyful smile and warm hospitality.

Using soft overripe bananas makes it a lot easier to mash them and they are so much sweeter which will make a yummier sweet bread!

I use my Kitchenaid Mixer to stir up the ingredients but you can certainly mix it up by hand too!

Once you pour the batter into a greased bread pan, sprinkle some extra walnuts on top. The nuts will toast while baking becoming crunchy and delicious and make your sweet bread even prettier! My ruffled loaf pan is a joy to bake with! It’s made in France by Emile Henry (click this affiliate link to check it out) and makes everything you bake look beautiful!
