IMG_5565Living in the Ozarks they say if you don’t like the weather, just wait 5 minutes! Lol! Well, one thing’s for sure, we always get a few snow days each winter and that’s a reason to celebrate! Not only is it beautiful, with the hills looking like God sifted powdered sugar over the hills and valleys, but it’s a perfect time to make snow ice cream!

The recipe I’m sharing with you today is from my mother-in-law Ruth.  It’s got to be over 40 years old! Mama Ruth raised her 4 kids up in the mountains of Idyllwild, California. She was an amazing cook and homemaker. Ruth always had candles glowing, a yummy supper cooking on the old-fashioned cast-iron-style electric stove and a blazing fire to get toasty by when friends and family came in from the cold.  When my hubby and I were dating, his mama would invite me to stay at the big old cabin for the weekend. If it snowed we could always count on a fresh batch of delicious snow ice cream to enjoy by the crackling fire. IMG_5494

Mama Ruth’s recipe is as easy as 1.2.3!

You just need three ingredients.

Snow, Sweetened Condensed Milk, & Vanilla.

Sprinkles make everything more fun!

While you’re at it…why not add a candle!

This is a Snow Day celebration by golly!

Talk about making fun memories for your kids or grandkids!

What kid doesn’t love to blow out a candle?

Have them make a snow-wish!

For even more fun…

Take the tune of the

 “Happy Birthday” song and

sing these words instead;

“Happy Snow-Day Hooray!

Happy Snow-Day Hooray!

Happy Snow-Day Hooray!

Happy Snow-Day Hooray!”
