My home is still a-flutter with kinfolk from the east and the west. Each day is full of adventure…..slip-n-slides, fire-crackers, catching fireflies, eating watermelon, BBQ at a local hang-out called Danna’s, lively conversation, laughter, shopping, a visit to Silver Dollar City, going to the movies (to see The American Girl, Kit…loved it!!) sharing memories, breaking bread (and savoring a slice or two of pie!) Most evenings we have close to 20 family members ’round the table. So I have been a busy bee!

It’s been a hoot gathering with the gals to prepare meals and to make pie!

Yup, we had ourselves a rootin’ tootin’ Pie Party!

The menu:

  • Sweet Georgia’s Peach Pie (two of them!)
  • Bessie Mae’s Blackberry Pie
  • Carmel Apple Crunch Pie
  • Bubba’s Blackberry Apple Brown Sugar Pie

I had the girls pick out a cute apron to wear. My sister-in-law Linda is wearing my new pink Heavenly Hostess apron. She loved it so much she wanted to marry it…..but, sorry girlfriend, it’s already married to me! If you look real close, you’ll see that we dusted our noses with flour, (in honor or Beulah…see the post “A little Gumption Goes A Long Way”) so the menfolk would see how hard we were working! (wink!)
The orchard fresh aromas of apples and peaches mingled with sweet pastry and cinnamon swirled around the kitchen.
Ozark-style bluegrass music made our toes tap and our aprons twirl.

I was in charge of the pie dough with my handy-dandy,
loveable, Kitchen Aid mixer! It makes mixing the dough so easy, really!!

That sweet marshmallow-white beauty of a Mixer does all the work! I just love her!
Love my lipstick red rolling pin from Williams-Sonoma too!! Each gal got to try their hand at rolling out the dough.

This is my sister in law Holly from the San Fransisco area. You go girl!Darlene (sister in law from New York), Linda (sister in law, lives down the street)

little Andy (Holly’s son) and yours truly having a blast being silly.

Gettin’ ready to put some lovin’ in the oven!

The fruits of our labor!

Too much of a good thing can be wonderful!

I scream, you scream,

we all scream for ice-cream…

…and five yummy pies and a good cup of coffee!

it’s making a great deal out of the little ones.”~ Anonymous

I am so honored and thankful to have received

three awards in the past few weeks!

and Gorgeous Southern Belle Mrs. Decker (Stacy)

from Southern Somedays gave me another one!

1. Pick 5 blogs that you consider deserving of this award for their creativity, design, interesting material, and also contribution to the blogging community, no matter what language.

2. Each award should list the name of the author and a link to his /her blog to be visited by everyone .

3. Each award winner should show the award and put the name of and link to the blog that presented her/him with the award .

4. The award winner and presenter should show the link of the Arte y Pico blog, so everyone will know the origin of this award.

And Miss Cutie-Pie Amber from The Shabbee Chick (who by the way creates such adorable Blog designs..check her out if you want a new sassy look!)…

…she gave me the Nice Matters award.
“This award is for those bloggers who are nice people, good blog friends and those who inspire good feelings and inspiration. Also, for those who have a positive influence on our blogging world. “
Thank you so much for these awards gals!! I so appreciate them! If you don’t mind, I would like to pass these awards onto blog-girls that have inspired me on my next post. I’ve got a bunch of hungry folks that need feedin’ and I need some time to think of who to choose!!

One more thing girls, I am grabbing my pearls and my fanciest apron and my reddest lipstick for this exciting up-coming event in California! I am going to be there! I can’t wait to meet some of you creative, adorable gals in person! How fun will that be!

By the way, I am hoping to launch a new web-site this fall to go along with my blog,

where I will have easy-to-find recipes for these pies, homemaking tips and other fun stuff!

Thanks for stopping by for some Pie-Party Pie!

Bless you!

RuthAnn
